Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 30, 2026
TrackEat helps you track food, calories, macros, weight, and related goals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, password or sign-in provider information, profile details, food logs, weight logs, goals, preferences, custom foods, and optional profile photo.
If you use photo-based features, you may provide meal photos, nutrition label photos, or images selected from your photo library. If you scan a barcode, we process the barcode value to look up food information.
If you purchase a subscription, we receive subscription and transaction information from Apple, such as product identifiers, transaction identifiers, entitlement status, expiration dates, and environment information. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
How We Use Information
We use your information to create and secure your account, calculate calorie and macro targets, store your food and weight history, provide barcode lookup and AI recognition features, manage Pro entitlements, send password reset emails, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and improve TrackEat.
Photos, Camera, and Photo Library
TrackEat asks for camera or photo library access only when you choose features that need it, such as meal recognition, nutrition label scanning, barcode scanning, or profile photo upload. Photos used for meal or label recognition are sent to our backend and processed by our AI provider to return nutrition-related results. Profile photos are stored with your account until you replace, remove, or delete them.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate TrackEat. These may include hosting and database providers, Google services for sign-in and AI image processing, Apple services for Sign in with Apple and in-app purchases, Resend for password reset email, and Open Food Facts for barcode food data. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only when needed to provide the app, comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or abuse, or with your direction.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide TrackEat. You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion permanently removes your account and associated TrackEat data from our active systems, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, fraud prevention, tax, or accounting reasons.
Your Choices
You can update your profile, edit or delete food and weight entries, remove your profile photo, and delete your account in the app. You can also control camera and photo library permissions in iOS Settings. Apple subscriptions must be managed or cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including authenticated API access, password hashing, token-based sessions, rate limits, and transport encryption. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
TrackEat is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
International Use
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, when appropriate, notify you in the app or by other reasonable means.
